Ingredients

  • For the Brownie Layer:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • For the Cheesecake Layer:
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cherry pie filling

Method

  1. Preheat your oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Brownie Base:
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined. Pour the brownie batter into a greased 9x9-inch baking dish.
  5. Create the Cheesecake Mixture:
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  7. Layer the Mixtures:
  8. Pour the cheesecake mixture over the brownie batter in the baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of cherry pie filling on top and use a knife to swirl them into the cheesecake mixture.
  9. Bake:
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. A toothpick should come out with moist crumbs, not wet batter. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
