Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 medium Zucchini, sliced thinly Fresh, garden-fresh is best
  • 1 cup Cream Or for a lighter version, use milk
  • 2 cups Shredded cheese A mix of mozzarella and cheddar works great
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated For added richness
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced For flavor
  • Salt and pepper To taste
  • Fresh herbs (e.g., thyme or basil) For garnishing

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss together the sliced zucchini with salt and let it drain in a colander for about 10 minutes to reduce excess moisture.
  3. While the zucchini drains, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Cooking
  1. In a baking dish, start layering the zucchini slices, sprinkle with salt, add a few spoonfuls of cream, and a generous handful of shredded cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  2. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh herbs. Enjoy your delicious Cheesy Zucchini Gratin!

Notes

Ensure the zucchini drains long enough to avoid a watery gratin. Experiment with different cheeses and use fresh herbs for enhanced flavor.
