Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Making the Cheese Sauce
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux, stirring constantly for about 1-2 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until thickened and creamy, which takes about 4-5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the white cheddar and mozzarella. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
Combining and Baking
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta and cheese sauce, mixing well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs and reserved cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
This dish can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes.
