  • 2 cans hominy, drained (15 oz each)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz) Make sure it's halal-certified
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional) For a smoky flavor
  • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips For topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine drained hominy, 1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, sour cream, milk, cream of mushroom soup, chopped onion, garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Mix everything until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese on top, followed by your crushed tortilla chips.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.
  2. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Top Tips: You can swap regular cheese for a lower-fat option or add cream cheese for extra creaminess. Prepare in advance and refrigerate, then bake when ready. Make sure to drain hominy well to avoid sogginess.
