Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add diced onions to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef and onions with the uncooked rice, beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Generously sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Serving
  1. Once it’s out of the oven, let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Top with sliced green onions if desired.

Notes

You can substitute the beef for ground turkey or chicken, or use a plant-based protein for a vegetarian version. To store, let it cool completely before transferring to an airtight container, keeping in the fridge for up to 3 days or freezing for up to 3 months. When reheating, use a splash of broth to maintain creaminess.
