  • 1 loaf loaf of French bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it is softened for easy spreading.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Garlic is the star ingredient.
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Can be substituted with provolone or cheddar.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise.
  3. Mix the butter and minced garlic together in a small bowl until well combined.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly onto both halves of the French bread.
  5. Sprinkle dried parsley and salt over the buttered bread.
  6. Top with mozzarella cheese, covering every edge.
  7. Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven, allow to cool briefly, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

For variations, swap mozzarella for provolone or cheddar. To avoid soggy bread, toast lightly before adding toppings. For storing, wrap in aluminum foil and refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
