Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and garlic, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Once cooked, drain any excess fat. Stir in the chopped pickles and special sauce until well combined.
- In a greased baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom.
- Sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top.
- Place the frozen tater tots evenly over the cheesy layer.
- Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until the tater tots are golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Add optional toppings if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or frozen for up to three months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warm throughout.
