Method
Cooking the Beef
- In a large skillet, over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion together until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Use a spatula to break apart the beef into small pieces as it cooks.
Add Potatoes
- Once the beef is cooked, toss in the frozen diced potatoes. Stir to combine them well with the beef and allow them to cook for about 2-3 minutes.
Create the Flavor Base
- Pour in the beef broth, ketchup, and mustard. Stir everything up, making sure the potatoes are well incorporated, and bring the mixture to a boil.
Simmer
- Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked through and tender.
Cheese It Up
- Once the potatoes are tender, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, cover it with a lid, and allow it to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Season and Serve
- Before serving, give it a good mix, and season with salt and pepper to taste. For an added touch, serve with optional toppings like pickles and lettuce.
