Ingredients

Filling ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Can be substituted with ground chicken or turkey.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese.
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
Dough ingredients
  • 1 package refrigerated pretzel dough Check for halal certification.
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • Sesame seeds For topping.
  • Salt To taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Season with salt to taste, stirring occasionally until it is thoroughly cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef with mustard, ketchup, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well until the cheese is evenly distributed.
  4. Unroll the refrigerated pretzel dough and cut it into squares (about 3 inches each).
  5. Place a spoonful of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of each dough square.
  6. Fold the corners of the dough over the filling, pinching them together to create sealed balls.
  7. Place the filled pretzel bombs on a greased baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
Baking
  1. Bake the pretzel bombs in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until they are golden brown and puffed up.
  2. Remove from the oven, let them cool slightly, and enjoy these delicious cheese-stuffed delights warm.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can freeze them before baking, or after they've cooled. When ready to eat, reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes.
