Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed Use light or dark brown sugar depending on preference.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Feel free to use milk or dark chocolate.
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the flour, rolled oats, baking soda, and salt into the mixture. Stir until all ingredients are well combined and form a dough.
  4. Take about half of the dough and press it evenly into the bottom of the greased baking dish to create your base layer.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the base, then drizzle the caramel sauce over the chips.
  6. Crumble the remaining dough over the caramel and chocolate layers. Don’t worry about making it perfect; some gaps are totally fine!
Baking
  1. Pop your dish into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is beautifully golden brown.
  2. Allow the Carmelitas to cool before cutting them into squares.
