  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup oats

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped plums, granulated sugar, cardamom, and lemon juice. Allow this mixture to sit while you prepare the crumble.
Making the Crust and Crumble
  1. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the softened butter and oats, mixing until you achieve a crumbly texture. Reserve about 1 cup of this mixture for the topping.
Assembling and Baking
  1. Press the remaining mixture firmly into the base of your lined baking dish to form a solid foundation.
  2. Pour the plum mixture over the crust, spreading it evenly.
  3. Sprinkle the reserved crumble over the top of the plums, ensuring an even coverage.
  4. Bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown. Let them cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Substitutions: If you don’t have plums, feel free to use other seasonal fruits like peaches or nectarines. Timing: Use a timer to avoid overbaking. Common mistakes: Do not overmix the crumble; it should remain crumbly.
