Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 8 ounces Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 large Tomatoes, ripe (heirloom or beefsteak), sliced
  • 1 cup Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by washing the tomatoes and basil leaves. Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella cheese into even slices, about half an inch thick.
Layering
  1. On a serving platter, alternate layers of sliced tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Tuck the basil leaves in between each layer, allowing the vibrant colors to shine.
Dressing and Seasoning
  1. Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the layered ingredients. You can adjust the amount based on your taste preference.
  2. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the salad for added flavor. Remember, fresh ingredients shine best with just a hint of seasoning!
Serving
  1. Enjoy your Caprese Salad fresh. Pair it with crusty bread or serve it alongside grilled chicken for a complete meal.

Notes

For the best flavor, use the freshest mozzarella and ripe tomatoes. It's recommended to prepare the salad just before serving to maintain freshness. Feel free to experiment with other herbs or use burrata cheese for a creamier experience. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days but avoid freezing.
