Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 whole ripe cantaloupe Make sure it's perfectly ripe for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust based on the sweetness of the cantaloupe.
  • 1/2 cup water Used to help blend the mixture smoothly.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds a hint of tartness to the sorbet.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the ripe cantaloupe in half and scoop out the seeds. Use a melon baller or a spoon to scoop the flesh into a bowl.
  2. In a blender, combine the cantaloupe flesh, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Blend on high speed until you achieve a smooth consistency, approximately 30 seconds.
  3. Taste the mixture. If you desire more sweetness, add additional sugar to suit your palate.
Chilling
  1. Pour the smooth cantaloupe mixture into a shallow dish. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the freezer for about 2 hours, or until firm.
Serving
  1. Once frozen, use a fork to scrape the surface to create a fluffy, granita-like texture. Serve immediately in chilled bowls or cups.

Notes

Store your Cantaloupe Sorbet in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. If ice crystals develop, scrape it to restore the fluffy texture.
