Preparation
- Grab a large pot with a tight-fitting lid, or a campfire-safe popcorn popper if you have one.
- Over medium heat, add the vegetable oil or butter to your pot and wait until the oil shimmers or the butter melts.
Popping
- Add the popcorn kernels to the pot and cover it with the lid.
- Gently shake the pot every few seconds to prevent burning and encourage consistent popping.
- When the popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops, remove it from the heat.
Serving
- Carefully take off the lid and watch out for steam.
- Transfer the popcorn to a bowl and sprinkle with salt and any desired seasonings.
- Toss the popcorn to ensure even coverage, and enjoy!
Notes
Leftover popcorn can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days at room temperature. For reheating, use the microwave briefly.
