Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup brown sugar Can use light or dark brown sugar, dark offers a richer taste.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Use high-quality butter for best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream Alternatively, use coconut cream for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla extract for a deeper flavor.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sift before adding for a smooth texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until it’s completely melted.
  2. Add the brown sugar to the melted butter. Mix well and stir for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture starts bubbling.
  3. Gradually add the heavy cream to the bubbling mixture, stirring constantly until smooth.
  4. Allow the mixture to gently boil for an additional two minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and sift in the powdered sugar while mixing continuously to achieve a smooth texture.
  6. Let the frosting cool slightly before using it to frost cakes or cupcakes.

Notes

For perfect frosting, avoid overcooking after adding cream, adjust consistency with more cream or powdered sugar as needed, and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat gently in the microwave if it thickens.
