Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed The riper the bananas, the sweeter and moister the bread will be.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • a pinch salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips Optional, for added flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4x8 loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher until smooth with small lumps.
  3. Mix in the melted butter to the mashed bananas until fully combined. Add the brown sugar and stir well.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until everything is combined.
  5. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, and stir until just incorporated.
  6. Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until you see no more dry flour. Add walnuts or chocolate chips if using.
  7. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy!
