Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (make sure it’s halal) Use high-quality halal sausage for best flavor.
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 cups diced bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with mozzarella or Swiss cheese.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, breaking it up into small pieces (about 5-7 minutes). Once done, drain any excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until fully combined.
  4. In a large baking dish, evenly distribute the diced bread.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, add the cooked sausage, and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  2. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

Customize your sausage, add vegetables, and ensure eggs are fully set for the best texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
