Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces Ribeye steaks (about 1 to 1.5 inches thick)
  • Salt (preferably kosher) Season generously
  • Freshly cracked black pepper Season generously
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For cooking
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter For adding richness
  • Fresh herbs (optional, such as thyme or rosemary) For additional flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Remove the ribeye steaks from the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel and season both sides generously with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
Cooking
  1. Heat a heavy skillet or grill over high heat until it’s scorching hot.
  2. Once hot, drizzle in olive oil and swirl it around to coat the pan evenly.
  3. Place the steaks in the pan and let them sear for 4-5 minutes without moving them.
  4. Flip the steaks and add butter and herbs to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks as they cook for another 4-5 minutes until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  5. Transfer the steaks to a cutting board, tent with foil, and let them rest for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Slice and serve your perfectly cooked ribeye steaks with your favorite sides.

Notes

For optimal flavor, seek out well-marbled steaks. Adjust cooking times using a meat thermometer for precision. Don't skip the resting stage for juicy results.
