Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 4 slices Sourdough Bread Can be substituted with whole wheat or gluten-free bread.
  • 8 oz Brie Cheese, sliced Can be replaced with goat cheese for a sharper taste.
  • 1 cup Fresh Blackberries Gently rinse before use.
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar Toss with blackberries before assembling.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter, softened Use for grilling the sandwich.

Method

Preparation
  1. Slice the brie cheese into even pieces for easy melting.
  2. Rinse the blackberries gently and toss them in a bowl with balsamic vinegar, being careful not to crush them.
Assembly
  1. Take two slices of sourdough bread and spread butter on one side of each.
  2. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Layer on half of the brie, followed by the blackberries, and then the remaining brie.
  4. Top with another slice of sourdough, butter-side up.
Grilling
  1. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom slice is golden brown and crispy.
  2. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula.
  3. Cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until crispy and the cheese has melted.
  4. Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, potentially with extra blackberries on the side for garnish.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat, covering with a lid to restore melty consistency while maintaining crispiness. Avoid microwaving.
