Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (Halal) Can substitute with turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter option.
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Shredded cheese (optional) For extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the Halal breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once the sausage is browned, stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring until the flour coats the sausage. Gradually whisk in the milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the mixture thickens, approximately 3-5 minutes.
  4. Cut the biscuit dough into quarters and set aside.
  5. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom. Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuits, ensuring they are fully covered.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top if desired.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and the gravy is bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C). Add a splash of milk to the gravy if needed.
