Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a casserole dish.
- In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until it's browned and crumbly. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the flour, salt, and pepper, and cook for an additional minute to develop the flavors.
- Gradually pour in the milk while stirring constantly until the mixture thickens into a thick gravy.
- Cut the refrigerated biscuits into quarters. Layer them evenly on the bottom of the casserole dish.
- Pour the sausage gravy mixture over the biscuit layer, making sure to cover them well.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and pour them over the casserole, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Add sautéed veggies like bell peppers or spinach for added nutritional value. Adjust gravy thickness with a splash of milk. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze individual portions for two months.
