Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 package refrigerated biscuits
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a casserole dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until it's browned and crumbly. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the flour, salt, and pepper, and cook for an additional minute to develop the flavors.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring constantly until the mixture thickens into a thick gravy.
  5. Cut the refrigerated biscuits into quarters. Layer them evenly on the bottom of the casserole dish.
  6. Pour the sausage gravy mixture over the biscuit layer, making sure to cover them well.
  7. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and pour them over the casserole, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Add sautéed veggies like bell peppers or spinach for added nutritional value. Adjust gravy thickness with a splash of milk. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze individual portions for two months.
