**Brown the ground beef** In a skillet over medium-high heat, crumble and cook ground beef with salt and pepper. Stir occasionally until browned and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed and set aside.
**Preheat oven** Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or pizza pan.
**Roll out dough** On a floured surface, roll or press the pizza dough into a circle or rectangle, about 12 inches in diameter if making a round pizza. Transfer the dough to the prepared pan.
**Make the special sauce** In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, diced pickles (or relish), vinegar, and optional sugar. Adjust seasoning to taste. Reserve half of this sauce for topping after baking if desired.
**Assemble the pizza** Spread half of the special sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle the browned ground beef over the sauce, then top with shredded cheese. If you like, sprinkle sesame seeds around the crust edge to mimic a burger bun.
**Bake** Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
**Add fresh toppings** Remove the pizza from the oven. Drizzle with remaining sauce if desired. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced pickles, and diced onion. Slice and serve warm.
