Ingredients

Salad Base
  • 2 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 2 cups iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1 cup salami, diced (use Halal-friendly alternatives)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1/2 cup Italian dressing
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large salad bowl, combine the chopped romaine and iceberg lettuce. Toss them gently to mix.
  2. Dice the cucumbers and halve the cherry tomatoes. Thinly slice the red onion and add all these ingredients to the bowl.
  3. Toss in the sliced black olives and cubed mozzarella cheese, giving the salad a beautiful color and flavor contrast.
  4. If you’re using halal salami, chop it into small pieces and fold it gently into the salad for an added savory kick.
  5. Add the diced avocado for creaminess, followed by the chopped parsley for freshness.
  6. Drizzle the Italian dressing over the salad, and toss everything together carefully so as not to mash the avocado.
  7. This delicious salad can be served immediately, or chilled for a bit to enhance flavor.

Notes

For substitutions, consider using grilled chicken or turkey breast instead of salami, or add bell peppers for extra crunch and color. To maintain the salad's freshness, prepare right before serving and keep the dressing separate until ready to serve.
