Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with non-stick spray or line it with parchment paper.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a large mixing bowl, then mix in granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Incorporate the red food coloring and mix until the batter is bright red.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture.
- If using, gently fold chocolate chips into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let cool completely before slicing into squares.
Notes
To keep brownies fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. They freeze well for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave for a few seconds before enjoying.
