  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thin Ensure slices are against the grain for tenderness.
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For cooking the beef.
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped For garnish.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by slicing your flank steak thinly against the grain.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and ginger.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the bowl with the marinade and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef and let it sear for 3-4 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix cornstarch with water until smooth. Once the beef is cooked, pour the cornstarch mixture into the skillet and stir for a couple of minutes until the sauce thickens.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving. Serve it over rice or noodles to soak up the flavors.

Notes

Substitutions: Use sirloin or chicken breast if preferred. Keep a close eye while cooking to avoid overcooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or up to 3 months in the freezer.
