Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, blending just until combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using, with a spatula.
- Drop generous portions of dough onto a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center remains soft.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For thicker cookies, consider chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or freeze for up to three months.
