Ingredients

For the Skewers
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 pound fresh blueberries
  • 1 pound pound cake, store-bought or homemade Cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup whipped cream Can be homemade or store-bought
  • 6 inches wooden skewers Approximate length

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash the strawberries and blueberries. Hull the strawberries and slice them in half for easy skewering.
  2. If using a store-bought pound cake, slice it into 1-inch cubes. If making your own, allow it to cool completely before cutting.
Assembly
  1. Take a wooden skewer and start threading the ingredients: Begin with a cube of pound cake, followed by a halved strawberry, then a few blueberries. Repeat until the skewer is filled, leaving some space at both ends for easy handling.
  2. When ready to serve, top each skewer with a dollop of whipped cream or serve the whipped cream on the side for dipping.
  3. Arrange the skewers on a platter and watch as everyone digs in!

Notes

For substitutions, use sponge cake or Angel Food Cake for a lighter texture. You can also mix in other fruits like kiwi or banana. Assemble skewers right before serving to prevent sogginess. Ensure whipped cream is chilled for the best texture. Leftover skewers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days without the cream.
