Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce make sure it’s Halal-compliant
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by marinating the sliced beef in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for about 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef, searing it for about 2-3 minutes until it browns.
  2. Once the beef is nearly cooked, add the broccoli florets to the pan. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green but still crispy.
  3. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and water, then add to the skillet along with additional soy sauce if desired. Stir everything together, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  4. Finish with salt and pepper to taste. Serve your Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry hot over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

Consider substituting chicken or tofu if preferred. Timing is key to keep the beef tender. Make sure your skillet is hot to achieve a perfect sear.
