Casserole Ingredients
  • 1 package frozen hashbrowns Ensure hashbrowns are fully thawed before mixing.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese You can mix different cheeses for extra flavor.
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (or a Halal substitute) You can use cream of mushroom soup for a vegetarian version.
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup cornflakes (optional, for topping) For added crunch on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients except the cornflakes. Make sure to mix well.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  4. Sprinkle the cornflakes evenly over the top if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
  2. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, replace the cream of chicken soup with cream of mushroom soup. Make sure to let the casserole cool before serving to set properly. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days or freeze for 1-2 months.
