Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced Choose apples that hold their shape, like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds flavor and prevents browning.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
For the crumble topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Can substitute with nutmeg or pumpkin spice.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and lemon juice.
  3. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the apple mixture and stir well to coat the apples evenly. Let them sit for about 5-10 minutes.
Making the Topping
  1. In a separate bowl, mix the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, cinnamon, and melted butter. Stir until well combined and crumbly.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Spread the sweetened apples evenly in a greased baking dish.
  2. Generously sprinkle the oat topping over the apples, covering as much area as possible.
  3. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbling.
  4. Allow cooling for a few minutes before serving warm, preferably with a scoop of ice cream.

Notes

This crumble can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes to maintain the crispy topping.
