  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Vegetables
  • 1 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 cup finely chopped carrots
  • 1 cup finely chopped celery
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Binding and Flavoring
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup For topping
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup apple cider To pour over the meatloaf

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and turkey, breadcrumbs, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. Add the finely chopped onions, carrots, celery, and minced garlic, mixing until just combined.
  4. Crack in the eggs, followed by the ketchup, dried thyme, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish or loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Pour the apple cider over the top.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, ensuring the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  2. Once baked, allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For substitutions, you can swap the ground beef or turkey for any other Halal-friendly meat options. Incorporate diced bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor. Avoid overmixing to maintain a tender texture. Prepping ahead of time is an option; refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.
