Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Use cold for a flaky texture.
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg beaten, for brushing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir well.
  3. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk. Mix gently using a fork.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it lightly until it comes together.
  6. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick and slice it into 8 wedges.
  7. Arrange the scones on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until risen and golden brown.
  9. Let the scones cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them after baking for up to 3 months.
