- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir well.
- Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk. Mix gently using a fork.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it lightly until it comes together.
- Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick and slice it into 8 wedges.
- Arrange the scones on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until risen and golden brown.
- Let the scones cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
