Ingredients
  

For the filling
  • 2 medium apples, diced Use fresh, sweet apples for optimal flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Use honey or agave syrup as alternatives.
For the dough
  • 1 package crescent dough Can use gluten-free crescent dough if desired.
  • 1 large egg For egg wash.
Optional topping
  • to taste Caramel sauce For drizzling.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the diced apples, cinnamon, and sugar until the apples are coated evenly. Set aside.
  3. Open the crescent dough package and carefully unroll it. Divide it along the perforated seams into triangles.
Assembly
  1. Place about a tablespoon of the apple filling at the base of each triangle. Be careful not to overfill.
  2. Starting from the base, roll the triangle toward the tip and gently pinch the seams to seal.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pie bites.
Baking
  1. Place the filled bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Allow them to cool slightly and drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Can freeze uncooked assembled bites; bake from frozen by extending the baking time.
