Ingredients

  • 3 cups sliced apples
  • 3 cups sliced pears
Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples and pears. Make sure they are evenly mixed.
  3. In another bowl, combine rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Pour the melted butter into the mixture and stir until everything is well combined and crumbly.
  4. Spread the apple and pear mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Evenly distribute the oat topping over the fruit.
Baking
  1. Bake the crisp in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
  2. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving warm. It’s best enjoyed with a side of Halal vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Feel free to substitute fruits based on the season or personal preference. For a healthier option, consider using almond flour or coconut oil.
