Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced Use slightly firmer apples for better texture.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar This will enhance the sweetness of the apples.
  • Pinch salt
For the oat topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Use more or less to taste.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adjust based on preference.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted Can substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the diced apples with 1/4 cup of brown sugar and a pinch of salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, remaining brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, melted butter, and vanilla extract until crumbly.
  4. Spread the sweetened apples evenly in a baking dish and top generously with the oatmeal mixture.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serving
  1. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into bite-sized portions. Serve warm with your favorite topping.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days; freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
