Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add softened butter to the dry mixture and mix until crumbly.
- Gradually pour in the milk, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly for about 1 minute.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick).
- In another bowl, mix together the chopped apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Spread the mixture evenly across the rolled-out dough.
- Starting at one end, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into equal pieces (about 12).
Baking
- Place the rolls into a greased baking dish and brush with beaten egg and vanilla extract.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- Let them cool slightly, then drizzle with powdered sugar icing if desired.
Notes
These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month. To reheat, pop them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
