Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Can substitute with honey for a healthier alternative.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup milk Add more if dough is too dry.
  • 1 egg beaten For brushing on top before baking.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For flavoring the dough.
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 apple peeled and chopped Any sweet variety works well.
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon Enhances the aromatic flavor.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adds sweetness and depth to the filling.
For Icing (optional)
  • to taste Powdered sugar For drizzling on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add softened butter to the dry mixture and mix until crumbly.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  5. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly for about 1 minute.
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick).
  7. In another bowl, mix together the chopped apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Spread the mixture evenly across the rolled-out dough.
  8. Starting at one end, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into equal pieces (about 12).
Baking
  1. Place the rolls into a greased baking dish and brush with beaten egg and vanilla extract.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  3. Let them cool slightly, then drizzle with powdered sugar icing if desired.

Notes

These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month. To reheat, pop them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
