Amish Sour Cream Cornbread: A Comforting Classic!

Is there anything more heartwarming than the aroma of freshly baked cornbread wafting through your home? The soft, slightly sweet texture of Amish Sour Cream Cornbread is like a warm hug on a plate. Perfectly golden with a hint of tang from the sour cream, this cornbread is not just a side dish; it’s a delightful addition that can elevate any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients: corn flour, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until everything is evenly combined.
  • In another bowl, combine your wet ingredients: sour cream, eggs, and melted butter. Stir gently until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  • Combine both mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Carefully mix them together until just combined—be careful not to overmix, as we want that delightful, fluffy texture!
  • Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cornbread to cool for a few minutes in the pan, then transfer it to a wire rack. Cut it into squares, and enjoy the heavenly, tender slices of cornbread!
