- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or a 9x13-inch pan depending on the cake shape you desire.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth and consistent.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water. Don’t be alarmed—the batter will be thin.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans or pour it into your single pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, feel free to frost with your favorite chocolate frosting or enjoy plain!
