For the French Toast
  • 4 slices slices of bread (preferably challah or brioche) Choose bread that can hold up well to soaking.
  • 1 cup milk (any kind you prefer)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons almond extract Adds a sweet warmth.
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Butter for cooking For frying the French toast.
  • to taste Maple syrup for serving Top with syrup or other toppings.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, almond extract, and poppy seeds until well combined.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds on each side.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
  2. Place the soaked bread slices into the hot skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Remove the French toast from the skillet and serve hot with maple syrup and your favorite toppings.

Notes

For best results, use brioche or challah bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for three months.
