Ingredients

Churro Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Coating Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup sugar for coating
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon for coating
  • 1 tablespoon cooking spray

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, brown sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring gently.
  2. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the flour and baking powder until a dough begins to form.
  3. Allow the dough to cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and mix thoroughly. Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your Air Fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  2. Pipe 4-inch long churros into the basket, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
  3. Air fry the churros for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove the churros from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. In a bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon, then coat the churros in the mixture while they are still warm.
  5. Enjoy your Air Fryer Light Churros warm, alone or with your favorite dipping sauces!

Notes

Store churros in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate them for up to a week. To reheat, use the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
