Ingredients

Churro Dough
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
Coating
  • Cinnamon sugar for coating
  • Cooking spray for air fryer

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Bring this mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, add 1 cup of all-purpose flour to the saucepan. Stir it vigorously with a wooden spoon until it forms a ball of dough. Remove from heat and let it cool for a minute.
  3. Once the dough has cooled slightly, beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time. This will create a smooth, silky dough that’s perfect for churros.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle. Pipe 4-inch long strips directly onto parchment paper.
  5. Before you air fry, spray your air fryer basket with cooking spray and preheat it to 375°F (190°C).
Cooking
  1. Carefully place the churro strips in the basket, ensuring they are not touching. Air fry for about 10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  2. As soon as they come out, roll the churros in cinnamon sugar to give them that classic touch.

Notes

For substitutions, whole wheat flour can be used for a healthier option. Make sure to air fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month. To reheat, pop them back in the air fryer at 375°F for 3-5 minutes.
