Deliciously crispy light churros made in the air fryer, with a golden brown exterior and a tender, fluffy interior, coated in cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients
  

Churro Dough
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Can substitute with coconut oil for a unique flavor
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 units eggs Add one at a time
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Coating
  • to taste Cinnamon sugar For coating after frying

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in all-purpose flour until a dough forms.
  3. Allow the dough to cool slightly for about 5 minutes, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle and pipe 4-5 inch long strips onto a parchment-lined tray.
Cooking
  1. Lightly spray churros with cooking oil and place in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each one.
  2. Air fry for approximately 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. Remove churros from air fryer and coat them in cinnamon sugar while they are still warm.
Serving
  1. Serve your Air Fryer Light Churros warm and enjoy them with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

Store leftover churros in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Reheat in the air fryer for a couple of minutes to restore texture.
