Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Sifted for best results
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Toppings
  • Powdered sugar For dusting

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients: buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until you have a velvety, homogenous batter.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (about 175°C) to ensure it’s heated properly.
  5. Pipe or scoop the batter into lightly greased donut molds, filling each about halfway.
  6. Place the molds in the air fryer basket and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow the donuts to cool for a few minutes before dusting them with powdered sugar or your favorite toppings.

Notes

Store the donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days, refrigerate for about a week, or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the air fryer for about 2 minutes to regain crispiness.
