Ingredients

  • Sausage 4 links, any variety you prefer
  • Sauerkraut 1 can, drained
  • Potatoes 4 medium, peeled and cubed
  • Onion 1, diced
  • Garlic 3 cloves, minced
  • Chicken or Vegetable Broth 1 cup
  • Caraway Seeds 1 tsp – optional for extra flavor
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Method

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Start by peeling and cubing your potatoes. Dice the onion and mince the garlic. If using links of sausage, slice them into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Layer in the Crock Pot: Begin by adding the diced onions and minced garlic to the bottom of your crock pot. Follow up with the cubed potatoes and sauerkraut.
  3. Add the Sausage: Layer the sliced sausage over the sauerkraut and potatoes, spreading it evenly.
  4. Pour in the Broth: Carefully pour the chicken or vegetable broth over the ingredients in the crock pot. Add caraway seeds if desired, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the potatoes are tender and the sausage is cooked through.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, give it a gentle stir and serve hot. You can sprinkle fresh herbs on top for extra flavor, if you like!
