  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced Washed and hulled strawberries, sliced thin.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar To toss with strawberries.
  • 1 cup whipped cream or cream cheese Choose according to your preference; can use plant-based alternatives.

Preparation
  1. Wash and hull the strawberries before slicing them into thin pieces. Toss them in a bowl with the sugar, letting them sit for about 5 minutes to attract the juices.
Assembly
  1. Spread a generous layer of whipped cream or cream cheese on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Distribute the sugared strawberries evenly over two of the slices, piling them high.
  3. Top the strawberry-laden slices with the other slices of bread, cream side down.
  4. Slice the sandwiches into halves or quarters and serve.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store in the refrigerator for 1-2 days but expect sogginess. For best results, assemble fresh when possible.
