Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F) Make sure it's warm, not boiling.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Check the expiration date for freshness.
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Finishing Touches
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda For the water bath.
  • to taste Coarse sea salt For sprinkling on top.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a separate large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually pour the activated yeast mixture into the flour and stir until a dough begins to form.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Tear off small pieces of dough (about one inch in size) and roll them into ball shapes.
  5. Fill a pot with water, bring it to a boil, and dissolve the baking soda in it. Dip each dough ball in the water for about 30 seconds, ensuring they’re coated well.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the pretzel bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  2. Cook for about 5 minutes or until they’re golden brown.
  3. Once done, quickly sprinkle coarse sea salt on top while they are still hot.
  4. Let them cool slightly before diving in. Enjoy!
