Preparation
- In a medium bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually pour the activated yeast mixture into the flour and stir until a dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Tear off small pieces of dough (about one inch in size) and roll them into ball shapes.
- Fill a pot with water, bring it to a boil, and dissolve the baking soda in it. Dip each dough ball in the water for about 30 seconds, ensuring they’re coated well.
Cooking
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the pretzel bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Cook for about 5 minutes or until they’re golden brown.
- Once done, quickly sprinkle coarse sea salt on top while they are still hot.
- Let them cool slightly before diving in. Enjoy!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month. To reheat, air fry at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes until warm and crispy.
