Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free blend
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed) Vital for flaky texture
  • 3/4 cup milk

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir until fully mixed.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture. Cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk while gently stirring until the dough comes together, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Turn the dough onto a well-floured surface and gently pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out biscuits and place them on a greased baking sheet, touching slightly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  8. Allow the biscuits to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, chill your butter before use and avoid overworking the dough. You can also experiment with flavors by adding herbs or spices.
