Ingredients

Meatloaf Base
  • 1 lb halal ground beef Can substitute with halal ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg Helps bind the ingredients together.
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped Adds flavor and moisture.
Glaze
  • 1/2 cup ketchup Base for sweet glaze.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adds sweetness to the glaze.
  • 2 tbsp vinegar (white or apple cider) Brings tanginess to the glaze.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the halal ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, and egg. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar until smooth. Set aside about 1/4 cup for later.
  4. Shape the beef mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  5. Brush the meatloaf generously with the glaze mixture.
Baking
  1. Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour.
  2. During the last 15 minutes, pour the remaining glaze over the top for extra sticky goodness.
Serving
  1. Allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10-15 minutes before slicing to keep the juices inside.
