Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (halal-friendly)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the breakfast sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir. Gradually add milk while stirring until the mixture thickens, about 3-4 minutes. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, cut the refrigerated biscuits into quarters and spread them evenly across the bottom.
  5. Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuit pieces, ensuring everything is well coated. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the biscuits are golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. To reheat, microwave for a few minutes or place in the oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes until heated through. Consider using turkey sausage or halal beef sausage as substitutions.
